Open
Week on the COGP Tour
Is
Available

COLUMBUS,
Ohio -- The
Westerville Open has dropped off the 2009 COGP summer schedule.
As a result, the week of August 3-9 is now open. Anyone wishing
to run a tournament on the COGP tour during that week should contact
Alan Kinnard at tournaments@cogp.com.

Hardcourt Championships

USTA MW Open Series Event

COLUMBUS,
Ohio -- The
Midwest Hardcourt Championships is a prize money tournament with
the Mens Open and Womens Open Singles Champions guaranteed $1,200
in prize money, finalist will win $600. This tournament is also
a Midwest Open Series Event (click
here for more information). All placers will accumulate points
towards playing in the season ending PRIZE MONEY Championships
at the ATP Facility in Cincinnati in August.
The
entry deadline for singles is Sunday, June 28 at 6pm. For more

Two Tournament Rule
COGP

COLUMBUS,
Ohio -- The
USTA currently has a rule concerning entering two tournaments
when the dates overlap. The rule states: "When
either tournament entry closes, a player may not be entered in
two or more sanctioned tournaments if any part of the tournaments
overlap, unless all Tournament Committees/Directors understand
the situation and agree in writing. Written approval from both
Tournament Committees/Directors must be received in the District
Office prior to the deadline of either tournament. This information
can be sent via fax, mail or email; however, it is the parent/legal
guardian's responsibility that the District Office receives such
written notice to ensure suspension points are not issued."
It
is the policy of most COGP tournaments to waive this rule and
give blanket permission for players to enter COGP events along
with other tournaments as long as the COGP tournament director(s)
are notified upon entry and supplied with the players' match times
from the non-COGP tournament. We can do this because most COGP
tournaments generally accept scheduling requests from players
anyway. (Note, some COGP tournaments do not accept this situation
so be sure to check with the individual director(s) before entering.)
The COGP will supply an e-mail permission letter upon request.

COLUMBUS,
Ohio -- The
Tennisfax Classic is pleased to announce that our 19th
annual tournament will be held at the Lincoln Tower Park Tennis
Courts at Ohio Stadium on the campus of The Ohio State University.
The tournament is designated as a Level 5 event for junior ranking
purposes. It's a great place for juniors to earn extra ranking
points and prepare for the upcoming Midwest Closed.
Adult
divisions are also offered.
