Mark
Mathias captured two titles at the Academy Open and earned
the Adult Player of the Week Award.
As
the 1st seed in the men's 35 singles draw, Mark defeated
John O'Neil 6-1 6-0 in the semis and the #2 seed Jim Butler
6-2 6-1 in the final.
In
men's doubles, Mathias and partner Marc Thomas were the
#2 seeds and they beat Ryan Rauck & Aaron Weisman
6-1 6-2 in the quarters, Brian Ballmann & Brian Erwin
6-2 6-3 and the #1 seeds Jim Butler & Wayne Manifold
7-5 6-4 in the final,

PLAYER OF THE WEEK

AMANDA
GREELEY

For
her outstanding play in 3 events at the Academy Open,
Amanda Greeley
was named the Junior Player of the Week.
In
girls' 18 singles, Greeley defeated Erica Eagle by default
and then Amanda Hollenbaugh 7-6 (4) 6-1 in the semis before
falling to Brittany Rings 6-0 6-0 in the final.
In
girls' 16 singles, Greeley beat Corinne Rauck 6-3 4-6
6-1 in the 1st round, the #1 seed Blair Williams 6-3 4-6
7-6 (4) in the quarters and #3 Jennifer Greene 6-4 6-0
in the semis before losing to #2 Amy Nini 6-1 6-1 in the
final.
In
girls' 18 doubles, Greeley and partner Krupa Harishankar
defeated Jennifer Greene & Ali Theiman 6-4 6-4 in
the quarters before losing to Teauana Long & Brittany
Rings 6-4 6-1 in the semis.
