SAMMONS

As an
unseeded player in the girls' 14 singles division at the Columbus
Summer tournament, Angela Sammons defeated both of the seeded players
in the draw to win the title and the Junior Player of the Week award.
She defeated
#2 Jennifer Greene 7-5 6-2 in the quarterfinals, Leah Silver 6-1
6-0 in the semis and top seed Carly Solomon 6-2 6-7 (5) 6-2 in the
final.
With this victory,
Sammons rose in the Tennisfax/COGP girls' 14 singles rankings from
#25 to #8.
