ADULT PLAYER OF THE WEEK

SHAWN WORTH

It seems that in many tournaments the numbers 1 and 2 seeds often meet in the finals. But at that point, it can be anyone's match to win. This time #2 came out with the title as Shawn Worth defeated Tom Oliver for the men's open singles title at Denison by the score of 5-7 6-4 6-2.

On his way to the final, Worth defeated Tom Dellinger 6-3 6-0 in the first round, Patrick Boyd 6-0 6-0 in the quarters and Chris Peterson 6-4 6-0 in the semis.

For his efforts, Worth was named the Adult Player of the Week for the South Central Open.

JUNIOR PLAYER OF THE WEEK

MYRA PEPINO

Rarely does a player win two singles titles in one tournament. Myra Pepino accomplished that feat by winning the girls' 16 and 18 singles titles at the South Central Open.

In the girls' 16 draw, Pepino was seeded #2 and defeated Beth Clark in the semis 6-1 6-0 and #1 seed Maggie Austin 6-2 6-1 in the final. Then in the 18 singles event, Pepino was again the #2 seed when she beat Amanda Hollenbaugh 6-0 6-0 in the quarters, Katie Gibbs 6-4 6-2 in the semis and Kristen Gibbs 6-1 6-3 in the final.

For her performance at Denison, Pepino was named the Junior Player of the Week.
